THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS FOR THE COVER OF THUNDERGIRLS #3 - Layout #1

One of the great things about working with Lee Melton Jris how quickly he created pencil layouts. This is the first of four he developed, warming to the task and incorporating our suggestions into the next design. The idea was to create a "moment in time" from the feature story, "Show Me The Mummy," starring the beautiful stunt-actress CHERYL RUSA.

Borrowing from age-old comic license, the cover is not an exact interpretation of the action within... here ISIS is a bit more recovered from her mummified state that she is during her battle with Cheryl. But we figured you'd seen enough "creature" covers, and decided to treat you to a more gentle visage.

In the back you see Benjamin, Mojar, and the Sheik, as well as other miscellaneous characters. ISIS looks great, but she's not quite intimidating enough. Plus, there's several inches betweenthe height of these girls. (And Lee says, "You didn't TELL me that!") Details, details.

An important and valuable element in all these covers (including the finished product) is the statue in the background, designed by CHRIS DAWSON. Thanks, Chris!
